What are Oxygen Absorbers & How do they work?

Oxygen Absorbers are specific products designed with the intention of removing or reducing the amount of oxygen inside of enclosed packaging. There are many different delivery methods for oxygen absorbers including barrier bottles (Oxynov™), canisters (Pharmakeep®) and most commonly sachets.

Oxygen Absorbing sachets are created by storing a material such as iron powder inside a permeable composition of membrane, this allows the oxygen in the space to travel through the membrane to the iron powder where are reaction occurs turning the powder into iron and eliminating oxygen in the process.
